Patrizia Pinzon says: Hola! If you are reading this, probably you are curious about Panama. Congratulations! this small country has a lot to explore, the best visitor is the one who yearns for an authentic experience and travels without expectations. I live in one of the most beautiful parts of Panama City: Casco Viejo. Not many people know the Casco really. Most panamanians are the least informed! And it is sad because this is where the country was born. Panamanians will call this area Casco Viejo, Casco Antiguo, San Felipe, Catedral... many names! the official one is Casco Antiguo and it´s devided in 3 neighborhoods: San Felipe (at the in walls of the city), Santa Ana (outside the walls) and Terraplen (on the sea boulevard). This city was designated UNESCO back in 1998 not only because it is a beautiful 300 years old colonial site, but because it blends every style that defines panamanian culture. In a space equal to 15 streets and 3 avenues you can find caribbean houses, art deco, colonial, french, republican... you name it! and the reason is because Panama was always the crossroads between countries and oceans. With each boom of population we had people from all around the world coming to Panama to make business. So that is why our houses in the initial city reflect all cultures. It is interesting for you to know: Panama, although a Central American country, is a caribbean country by culture. We dance, eat, speak and create music with caribbean flavor. So Casco is the best window we have to the world, and I feel lucky to live here. Protected from overdevelopment, is the best place for adventurous sould who like eclectic places with authentic flavor. Check out the picture gallery, I´ve uploaded some interesting pictures of events, buildings and people.
